On Saturday, November 4th, the German U17 national team will take off for Indonesia with players born in 2006. The FIFA U17 World Cup begins there on November 10th. For the selection of DFB coach Christian Wück, who arrive as reigning European champions, the tournament starts two days later (November 12th, 1 p.m. German time) in Bandung with the game against Mexico. This is followed by the duels with New Zealand (November 15th, 1 p.m.) also in Bandung and Venezuela (November 18th, 10 a.m.) in Jakarta. All of the German team’s games are broadcast live and free of charge on FIFA+.
Coach Wück says: „After winning the European Championship title with the 2006 class, we are looking forward to another highlight in youth football, participation in the World Cup. As a team, we want to build on the performance at the European Championship tournament in Hungary and Germany on the biggest possible stage represent with heart and passion. A demanding group phase awaits us, in which we start with the interim goal of making it to the knockout rounds. After that, we want to compete for the title at this level too. That we rely on many players from the European Championship squad We are of course pleased and we would like to thank the clubs for their good cooperation.”
The first and second placed teams in the six World Cup groups of four will qualify for the round of 16 games, which will be played from November 20th to 22nd, just like the four best third-placed teams. The quarter-finals will take place on November 24th and 25th, the two semi-finals on November 28th. The final will take place on December 2nd at the Manahan Stadium in Surakarta.
