Chancellor Scholz spoke to the Ukrainian President Zelenskyj on the phone today and exchanged views on the political, military and humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

President Zelenskyj informed about the effects of the Russian air strikes on civil infrastructure, water and electricity supply. The Chancellor condemned the ongoing shelling and assured Ukraine of further short-term support. So far, the federal government has provided short-term financial aid for the repair of the energy infrastructure in the amount of approx. 56 million euros and Germany is making over 350 generators available

The Chancellor reaffirmed Germany’s continued support for Ukraine, including in the area of ​​air defense and long-term reconstruction.

The Federal Chancellor and the Ukrainian President agreed to continue their close and constructive exchange and to remain in close contact.
